Torcross Tank project
Project statistics
210m2 Springtime 18mm resin bound surface
The Brief
To rectify a poorly laid resin bonded system laid at 5mm
The location
Between Start Point and Dartmouth lies Slapton Sands, a two-mile ribbon of sand with a precarious road running along its top. The village of Torcross is the gateway to the Sands, and in its beachfront car park stands a restored Sherman tank raised from the nearby seabed in 1984.
More about this project
This stunning transformation in Torcross beautifully illustrates our Springtime resin bound surface (one of our ‘Natural colour choices made using a special mix of dierent stones and UV stable resin).
South hams council and the trust wanted a robust surface that would withstand the test of time
With hundreds of thousands of people visiting the memorial every year it was imperative the resin bound was fit for purpose and the resin bound surface was a sensible decision (due to its porous properties, water soaks away rather than puddle and with no loose stones or weeds )
Summary
The team began the prep work on original surface of this large area to create the foundations to take our resin bound surface.
Firstly power washing the area then fungiciding the surface
There was lots of remedial work to do from the previous contractors that included cleaning up excess resin residue
They made short work of this project and used harvest 120×160 pavers to complete the stylish design and extend the area by the iron bollards
Day 3 we had a team of 7 working tirelessly to complete the resin bound surface which included two mixers running side by side, Andy, Richie and Dave laying the resin.
Mark and Cliff mixing with Ollie and Lee in the luter role which includes moving the mix to the layers and pouring it in place
We began the project at 8am and completed it by 3pm
This project is in beautiful Torcross , and we are more than happy to arrange a visit to see this project and our workmanship up close.
